This oasis is located east of Holtville on Old Highway 80. The site is where the Old Highway and Interstate 8 intersect. The spring runs year-round and next to the spring is a Long Term Visitor Area. Many winter visitors come and spend the winter next to the spring to bath in the warm water. The water temperature usually runs in the 100 degree F range.
The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for the visitor area. A primitive restroom is available and a cement pool was constructed for the public's use.
The water that supplies this pond is the same water that supplies the heat for the geothermal industry. The nearby geothermal plants have ground wells that pump water from the water table to their steam turbines. The water is then returned via another well. The temperature of the steam pumped from the ground is in excess of 300 degrees.
